How did the toxic neurotoxin fluoride end up in our drinking water? In 1939 the aluminum company ALCOA was the largest producer of fluoride chemical waste which was very costly to neutralize and dispose. Threatened by lawsuits from workers, farmers, and communities, ALCOA hired a scientist named Gerald J. Cox to devise an experiment ‘proving’ that cavities can be reduced through fluoridation. Subsequent to his experiment conducted on lab rats, Cox began heavy promotion of water fluoridation on his tours of the United States. In 1945 Grand Rapids, Michigan became the first community on earth to add fluoride to its drinking water claiming it was for dental health.
